Rebecca Tierney is the Poultry Advisor within Teagasc, an advisory, education and research body within Ireland. Rebecca graduated from University College Dublin in 2017, with a degree in Animal Science.
She began her role in Teagasc in September 2019. She is currently completing a Masters in Applied Poultry Science in SRUC.
Through this study, Rebecca is investigating the energy usage on Irish broiler units. Within Rebecca’s role in Teagasc, she offers advice to new and existing growers on a multitude of topics. She works closely with industry stakeholders to address the issues and challenges facing the poultry sector.
Rebecca is also involved in the education section of Teagasc, offering a Poultry Production course to new entrants to the poultry sector. Rebecca was host to a webinar series, Let’s Talk Poultry, where she was joined by a variety of speakers, covering a range of topics; including Avian Influenza which Rebecca will be discussing.
